Circa 1910 AAG Co Antwerp Artistic Glass Belgium Slag Lamp Bradley & Hubbard Era
This listing is for a beautiful slag glass lamp from the early 1900s. This lamp was produced by the Antwerp artistic glass company. Is marked on the bottom of the base, AAG co. We have not owned this form before but after doing a bit of research I found a couple similar lamps in completed estate auctions. This is a very well-made, very ornate lamp with intricate overlay on the shade. Reminiscent of some of the nicer Bradley and Hubbard Lamps. There are no cracks or repairs in the glass. The lamp is in excellent condition overall. The base shows some mild finish loss but is very presentable. The lamp has recently been rewired. Please see all pictures and feel free to ask questions. The lamp stands approximately 22 inches tall with the shade being approximately 16 inches and diameter. The lamp features 12 panels of glass with bent caramel panels around the top half and bent green panels around the bottom. The shade is a nice continuous dome shape with six sides. This beautiful piece perfectly captures the Mission and Art Nouveau transition style of the era, featuring warm, marbled glass and an ornate cast metal frame. Design & Features: The Shade: A classic 4-sided pyramid design featuring gorgeous marbled caramel/tan slag glass panels. The lower rim is accented with an intricate, pierced metal filigree overlay. The Base: A heavy, sturdy cast metal pedestal base (likely brass-plated white metal or iron) with a structured, fluted square column that flares into elegant Art Nouveau floral and scrollwork feet. The floral design continues beautifully onto the round base, making this lamp especially striking from every angle. When illuminated, the warm caramel and cream slag glass glows beautifully and highlights the natural variations within each glass panel. The shade features curved slag glass panels individually held within the metal framework, with openwork stems, leaves, flower buds and dimensional yellow blossoms. The tall fluted column flows into a coordinating round floral base. Its construction and styling are characteristic of early 20th-century American Art Nouveau slag glass lighting. The lamp has been professionally rewired with a beautiful period-appropriate green cloth-covered twisted cord and acorn-style plug. It has been tested and is working, as shown in the photographs. Handel Style Leaded Glass Table Lamp – Reproduction. This high-quality reproduction table lamp features a domed leaded glass shade composed of a geometric grid of variegated green and cream slag glass, accented by a lower border of pink floral blossoms and dark green leaves. The shade rests on a substantial metal base with a dark verdigris patina and a vase-form column molded with stylized geometric scrollwork. It is not an original Handel lamp. The fixture includes a three-socket cluster operated by acorn pull chains and is topped with a pierced metal heat cap. The underside of the base is covered in felt. The lamp is fully functional at the time of listing. Approximate dimensions: 23″ H x 18″ diameter shade. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description.
