NW Art Shade Co Chicago Slag Glass Lamp Antique 1920s Metal Overlay Lighted Base
This authentic, museum-quality circa 1920 Art Nouveau slag glass table lamp was meticulously crafted by the prestigious N. Art Shade Company of Chicago, Illinois, and serves as an exceptional investment piece for serious antique collectors. Standing as a premier example of the late Art Nouveau period, this rare model features six curved, amber-and-blue variegated slag glass panels housed beneath an incredibly intricate, heavy metal overlay depicting an elegant garden arbor scene populated with whimsical cherub and putti figures. Structurally distinct, the piece boasts a highly desirable lighted base that houses an independent internal socket within its matching paneled glass column, allowing the entire lighthouse-style stem to glow with a warm, ambient light alongside the main upper shade. The bottom is marked NW Art Shade Co, but I don’t have a photograph of it as it’s heavy and hard to get a picture of. Measures 27.5″ tall and 19.5″ wide. The lamp is in good condition, no cracked or broken panels. But some panels do have chipping around the inside edges that is covered by the metal framing and is normal for panel mounted slag glass lamps. There’s also some damage to the metalwork around the base. One pair of cats scrollwork is missing and two of the maidens have a broken bushel. Some of the panels have an unsoldered tip to the trellis.

As the title says, this measures approximately 22 inches high. The base is bronze and in the pattern of a tree. The base diameter measures approximately 7 and 3/4 inches. The cord is in great condition, and measures approximately 80 long. I think this takes a three-way bulb, but I’m not sure as I don’t have a three-way bulb to test it. The slag glass lamp shade has a floral pattern and it is approximately 14-1/4″ to 14- 1/2″ in diameter. So it’s not perfectly round. It does have minor scratches here and there and mold marks in the glass pieces that may resemble cracks or damage, but they are not as I have examined them very carefully. Altogether this weighs approximately 8 pounds 12 oz. Please check pictures as they are part of the description. I recycle boxes and packaging materials. I pack with great care. The panels are in excellent condition. The top measures 16 across. The base standing 24 tall features 4 Sockets with Acorn Pulls.
