Vintage Slag Glass Urn Lamp. W/ Hanging Glass Crystal Prisms. Elegantly Decorated Gold Gilt Base. Hercules or Atlas Figure Holding up Shade. Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself! Just a beautiful design on this slag glass urn lamp. The slag glass components are a white color and are on the sides, top and bottom. The top part is done as a lid and is removable. Then what really finishes the look of this lamp off are the glass prisms around the whole perimeter of the lamp. The prisms are all there, some minor chipping and dirtiness. Copper hangers for the crystal prisms are not all original. Can see bubbling in them when the glass was cast, nice touch to reflect age. The lamp dates to the circa 1920s to the 1930s period. Very intricately detailed metal frame that is gold colored. Appears to be a Hercules or Atlas figure, most likely Atlas, holding up the shade. The shade had gold colored designs of columns, curtains and full length women that securely hold the glass and accentuate the beauty of the shade. Just beautiful when lit, and yes, this lamp does work (no bulb will be provided)! All the metal frame seems to be intact, no missing pieces or repairs. We also do not observe any cracks, hairlines or repairs in any of the pieces of slag glass. The glass crystal prisms will be taken off the shade and packed away separately for their safety/ So, expect some re-assembly on your part. The metal base has raised design on it. The frame has a gold colored bronzed look to it. We do not see any maker markings on the lamp. Looks very similar to Pittsburgh Glass Lighting pieces we have had in the past. Could be marked and we just don’t know what we should be looking for. The electric cord on the lamp was replaced at some point. Still looks to be in good shape, no cracking or fraying. Interesting tie-in of the wiring under the lamp base. You may want to have an electrician take a look at before you use for any length of time. The Vtg Slag Glass Urn Lamp is 17.5″ tall, by 9″ across at the widest part of the shade, by 5.25 across the bottom. Other items that can be seen in the pieces are not included, only the slag glass chandelier described here.
