Antique 1900′s 18.5 dia Salem Bros Bent Stained Slag Glass Table Lamp Shade
This is an incredible antique shade with hundreds of bent glass pieces that come together to form a perfect dome. Wonderful pattern and coloring in the glass. It is very unique. Every piece has a curve to it designed to fit exactly where it is. Hand leaded and assembled. Take a look at the photos and imagine the hand work that went into making this. Measures 18.5″ diameter x 8″ tall with a 1 1/2 diameter hole at the top. The bases belong to other lamps. I just used them to show you what it would look like. There are a few cracks but nothing serious. It displays wonderfully in a room. Thank you for looking! Huge Antique Vintage Slag Glass Arts & Crafts Lamp MultiColored Empire Or Miller
Hello and thank you for looking. For your consideration is a stunningly beautiful antique slag glass lamp. The lamp is a very large and heavy 8 panel piece. It measures 26 in height and the shade measures 22 in diameter. Neither the shade nor the base are marked. His impression that this lamp is most likely made by Empire, with a less likely possibility it is a Miller. I have looked through hundreds of pics of slag glass lamps made by these two makers, and while Ive not found an exact duplicate, I have found several Empire lamps that have nearly identical filigree and a few Empires that have this exact color combination in the slag glass. The shade contains a gorgeous and rare combination of colored glass, which I have heard referred to as confetti or rainbow glass. As you can see, with the lamp turned on, the shade explodes in blues, greens, pinks, yellows, creams, and orange. There is also a separate layer of glass along the lower periphery of the shade that contains the classic caramel and cream colors often seen in these lamps. Overall the shade is in quite good condition. There is one panel that has some cracks which I have zoomed in on in one of the pictures. Additionally, as you can see, new light sockets have been installed. Bigelow & Kennard Hampshire Arts & Crafts Leaded Slag Stained Glass Table Lamp
Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is a beautify example of a Hamshirer pottery lamp base paired with a signed Bigelow & Kennard leaded shade. Just a wonderful arts & crafts look that I will let my pictures do most of the talking for. The shade is comprised of streaky white glass with a thick overlay design on the outside. It measurs 20 in diameter and is in absolutley excellent condition overall…. With no breaks, cracks or replaced glass. It is literally as nice as it was the day it was made. The shade is fully signed Bigelow & Kennard, Boston, and Bigelow Studios, as shown. The base is one of Hampshire’s best looking arts & crafts bulbous styled ones. It has a beautiful dark green finish and is also in excellent overall condition with no repairs. There are a couple of tiny cracks on the underside from the making, but these are not visible and are. Nothing to be concerned about. The base is signed HAMPSHIRE 007, and with the hardware stands just over 20 tall. The base has a 3 socket oil can fitted font the cap of which is signed “Made in the United States of America”. It has what appears to be its original General Electric sockets that retain their old porcelain interiors and ball ended pull chains. The font has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and a nice old plug, and the lamp comes ready to use and enjoy. This is a large and impressive lamp made by a quality maker in the true arts and crafts style. It is a beautiful example of both Bigelow and Hampshire’s work and is in very fine condition overall. If you like lamps or need parts please feel free to look at my other auctions or contact me. That being said, please do not embarrass yourself with a lowball offer thinking you are going to get such a lamp like this. It is just a waste of both of our times.
