I have for sale this super arts and crafts style and three times signed handel overlay lamp. Its signed twice on the shade and once on the base. This is a very nice overlay lamp and its in excellent overall condition. This is a full sized lamp with the base measuring 24.5 inches tall and the shade 20 inches wide. The base without issue, which means no metalware breaks or damage and its in fine working order. It appears to have its original three socket cluster and its been recently rewired with correct period style cloth cord. Its also in excellent original patina throughout. The shade in excellent original condition with all pieces of glass present and accounted for. The glass vibrant and alive as the pictures show and you will not find a more arts and crafts design than this by any maker. I see no breaks in the glass anywhere and the same goes for the filligree and overlay. I only used 7.5 watt bulbs for the pictures you see here because the glass lights up so very well. Zone two would be 75.00 times 20% which equals 15.00 which is added to the 75.00 and becomes 90.00. Zone three is 75.00 times 33% which is 25.00 which then becomes 100.00 for zone three. Sorry to do this and I hope you will stay on as fine and loyal customers. We may be able to hand deliver this item ourselves. What that means is this. If you live in the following radius or just outside it, we should communicate about not using a major carrier, so it has a better chance of survival and minimizing damage or a damage claim as well. So when I see your offers, I have to subtract those costs to get to my net. The costs can be up to 250.00 per item depending on the final price. I will be offering my lamps as reasonable as possible so as to 1. Not cause sticker shock like so many other sellers, 2. To sell them and not let my inventory sit around for years on end. Thanks for checking this great lamp out and please check out my other great lighting options as well. Recently I have been putting different lighting on with reserves and no reserves. Please Check out my other items! Some great Bradley Hubbard, Tiffany, Handel, etc. To all potential buyers. Please feel free to. Chances are if there aren’t any, it’s a newer item and you shouldn’t want it anyways. In other words, a minor blemish on some metalwork belonging to a large shade or a 1/16 by 1/16 of a paint flake missing, please try and be reasonable. I always describe the important aspects towards condition reports and sometimes my eye misses what I deem immaterial issues such as the aforementioned sentence. Thanks for your understanding. There are a few things in life we cant do without. Food, water, fire, oxygen, the sun, shelter etc. So when it comes to shelter and necessary light for it, thats where I come in. I believe in living simply and within my means but surrounded by items of great quality. Of and the wasteful utilities that go along with that. So why is it people go out and spend. Not to mention you got the same usage for that entire time period? This makes infinitely more financial sense than the other choice, plus you have a conversation piece in the room and something to be proud of. Also you have more cultural feeling invested in something 100 years old knowing that it can never be duplicated by modern making techniques and knowing there a few, if any, like it left for this world and now its yours. You display it and care for it. So again thats where I come in. Great period lighting when electricity was still in its infancy. When makers like Bradley and Hubbard, Handel, Tiffany studios, Pairpoint, and others cared about quality, appearance, and function. When makers were trying to outdo one another with this new business boom of electric lighting. When we went from whale and kerosene oil lamps and gas, to electric. This is when the best lamps in the world were manufactured and the ones I want to light my home with when its dark. I cant control the sun or the amount of light it provides or when it comes up or goes down, and whether its cloudy or not, but I can control the light in my home when its dark. And like I said earlier, I want nice rugs, paintings, pottery, furniture, etc. And I want to see those items lit by great lighting. Its what makes a home more outstanding and livable because without it you see absolutely nothing. A quality lamp makes or breaks a room. You can have the best rugs, furniture, paintings, and accessories in the world, but without great lamps or lighting nobody will ever see it. Magnificent Antique Bent Slag Panel Glass Lamp Shade Bradley & Hubbard E Miller Era. I could not find a mark but certain it was made by one I mentioned or perhaps Rainaud, Pittsburgh or other famous makers from 1910 era. Measures 16 3/8″ wide and about 9″ high. It has 12 glass panels – 6 caramel slag and 6 red orange slag. The caramel colors panels are fine, one of the red orange color panels has a single crack. A previous owner added to the inside a few drops of white putty to keep the panels from rattling and coming loose – it is only visible from the inside and it actually makes perfect sense. The metal filagree is 100% complete, the lower edge has 6 sections and 3 of these areas have a small tight age crack but again nothing missing and all the panels are held tight – my 12 photos should show this shade in detail. Guaranteed an authentic 1910 era Art Nouveau table lamp shade in the classic tradition and most likely Bradley & Hubbard. We are listing a lamp base that we acquired with this shade but it looks like it was a marriage which is why we are listing is separately. Slag glass, also known as marble glass or malachite glass, is a type of opaque, streaked pressed glass. Production of slag glass originated in late-19th-century England, where glass manufacturers are thought to have added slag from iron-smelting works to molten glass to create a range of effectsfrom tortoiseshell to marbling. Among other uses, slag glass was a popular material for lampshades. One of the first glass foundries to produce slag glass (although it was not called that at the time) was the Gateshead, England, firm of Sowerby, which patented its recipe for purple malachite glass in 1878. Market as “blackberries and cream, ” this popular formula was followed by other malachite colors, including a lemon-yellow called Giallo, a drab green called Pomona, a blue malachite called Sorbini, and Sowerbys famous Brown, which is very difficult to find today. Since the process of making slag glass was shrouded in a certain amount of mystery, stories sprang up to try and account for the process behind the effects. For example, it was a good bet that Sowerbys Blue Nugget color of 1883 was the result of adding cadmium to molten glass, but how to explain Gold Nugget? Stories soon spread that John George Sowerby, son of the companys founder, was tossing gold sovereigns into batches of amber glass to create this dramatic hue. In the United States, manufacturers such as Westmoreland and Akro Agate picked up on the techniques developed in England and produced their own versions of slag glass. As in England, one of the most popular applications for their pressed opaque glass was in lampshades. Wide bands of creamy colors allowed the light source in a lamp to fill a room with a soft ivory glow, while the purples and greens and reds pieced together in detailed leaded shades resulted in multi-colored illumination. Just about anyone who was making lamps during the Art Nouveau period, from Tiffany to Roycroft to Steuben, might have used slag glass in their shades. But whether they did or not in a particular lamp is another matter. The problem is that today, “slag glass” is used rather casually by dealers and collectors alike to refer to almost any type of pressed opaque glass containing colored swirls or streaks. The key to determining if a piece of glass is “true” slag or just a handsome example of pressed glass is to look for glass that is obviously and richly marbled rather than simply colored or streaked. It measures 32 inches tall and the shade is 24 inches wide. In comparison a full size regular lamp would be 20-22 inches tall with a 16-18 inch shade. The duffner lamp its pictured up against is 20 inches tall with a 14 inch shade. This has as great of an arts and crafts look to it as well a sort of gothic look as well. The base i have never seen anything like it before. The base with a very nice three socket cluster all in fine working order, fine patina, and original hubbell sockets and acorn pulls. No metalware damage at all. Its larger than life and quite heavy. The shade also in very nice original condition. The leading tight and right throughout and without any missing glass. A tight age crack here or there but maybe only 2-3 and certainly nothing to get worked up over. They are stable and not in any danger of anything but i mention for accuracy sake. Only problem with this lamp is size. Thanks for looking and please check out my other cool lamps I have up for sale now as well.
