Description: Up for sale is this large stately 6 panel bent glass lamp made by Rainaud. Rainaud was out of Meriden, CT and active between 1916 and 1930. Lamp has a single bulb controlled by a pull cord. Wiring is contemporary and in good working condition ready for service but as with any electrical device please examine before using. Lamp base is heavy and sturdy and able to support the large shade. Shade consists of 6 large panels of bent slag glass. The filigree is a floral chrysamthemum design with an Art Nouveau flare. Antique Large Art Noveau Caramel Slag Glass Lamp Cast Floral Filigree Brass 24
For you consideration is this art noveau slag lamp. Caramel slag glass with cast floral & leaves filigree overlay. It is in good working order and all pieces are original. I didn’t see a maker’s mark but has felt on the base bottom. Stands a whopping 24″ and the shade is 19″ in diameter. The only thing I noticed was 2 of the clips inside the shade were missing, see photo and base has the normal scuff marks and collosion for it’s age, see photos. Lamp before packing weighs 21+ lbs. Large art noveau lamp with bent slag glass shade. This is a beautiful vintage electric table lamp. The lamp has a decorative heavy metal base with a single stem and two light sockets. Each socket has a chain pull. The lamp metals have a dark patina. The shade has a decorative metal overlay of trees in a forest scene with caramel color bent slag glass and blue slag glass inserts with a river and cattails and reeds. It has an on-off switch on the cord. The lamp is 25 1/2″ tall to the top of the finial and the shade is 21″ across and 12 high. We always recommend the wiring be replaced for everyday use. When it lits —upper level has metal frame made in irregular geometric bricks with amber, honey, yellow, caramel slag glass panels tone colors, lower level metal frame made in vine leaves and a few clusters of dark purple grapes. All slag glass panels are original. Shade has metal tag “HANDEL”, having nice an original verdigris patina/please look at the pictures/.. No damage at all, very strong structure!!! The bottom of the base was covered with felt and we tried to expose the H&B marking but during the years there was minor rust build up around the stamp and we decided just to show the picture on the interior underside of the marking (See picture 8 & 9). There is no damage to any of the slag pieces and the two pull chains work with ease and do not get stuck. The electrical cord is the old cloth covered kind and does not have any fraying.
