RARE NWAS BRONZE Slag Glass Lighthouse Lamp Arts Crafts Art Nouveau Tiffany ERA
Item: Slag Glass Ornate Bronze Lamp. Age: 1910 – 30′s. Made: USA / Portland, Oregon. Description: Slag Glass lamp from as early as 1910- through 1930 by NWAS Co. And could have been made right here is Chicago. The lamp is super heavy so it appears to be bronze. The slag glass is blue & carmel and many panels that are curved. There is one panel missing since it is the peep hole to see through the shade to turn the switch on & off. Lighthouse shape with two lights on top and one in the base. Wiring / electrical is not original. Base has FIVE places were metal pieces are missing… Shade has perfect metal work and one missing small carmel glass panel. I do not see any glass panels that are broken. Measures 26″ Tall with base at 9″. The shade is 20 1/2″ wide and also 9″ tall. The base weighs about 9lbs and the shade weighs about a whopping 20lbs… So about 30lbs total weight. Does need a cleaning as I did not clean it. Rare Antique RIVIERE STUDIOS PINE NEEDLE Overlay Piano Lamp c. Rare Antique RIVIERE STUDIOS PINE NEEDLE Overlay Piano Lamp , circa 1920s. FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA. Up for your consideration is an unsigned Riviere Studios (NY) piano lamp, with green dichroic (Tiffany style) slag glass panels, and bronze (or metal) overlay, c. This company specialized in making lamps and picture frames imitating Tiffany’s “pine needle” pattern, but adopting it in more complex ways when applied to lighting. The quality of the glass is very similar. This is the only example of a “piano-style” lamp I have seen, and it may be unique. The lamp measures 15.5″ tall, and the shade is 13″ x 13″ x 6″. The shade extends outward from the base, so the lamp is 13 deep, as the shade is fixed with screws, and the diagonal portion extent outward. The base is onyx, and was likely added about 10 post production of the lamp to provide better balance due to its weight. The lamp was rewired about 20 years ago. The wiring is sound, the the cord shows minor wear. Three of the four glass panels show single tight heat-related “age” cracks. This is mostly hidden by the filigree, but with one panel it is more obvious (as depicted in the photos). The other two are obscured. I have pictured all 4 panels from the exterior, and the last three photos show the cracks from the interior. The green (verdigris) finish on the lamp base shows even wear throughout, with a pleasing appearance. The filigree is complete, and undamaged, and the lamp is in excellent working order. Although the shade is “fixed”, it can be removed by taking out a single screw. The shade required modest placement, with a small tab which centers in-between on of the ribs. It may seem awkward, until everything is in place, but this is “as constructed, ” very stable when in place, and could be a unique item from this highly collected maker. Early Rare 4 socket B & H/Bradley and Hubbard Tall Slag Glass/Handel/Deco Era Lamp with Lotus Shade. Very tall 26 B & H slag glass lamp with four Hubbel sockets. It has Four equal length ball style pull chains, original cap and finial. You know its original because all B & H lamps with multi-sockets are always marked on the base and the top. The lamp has been left in its original patina, rewired and ready for use. No dents or dings in body or sockets. The base is a large nine inch with the B & H unique design (see pictures). This is a very unique shaped shade size, will only fit a very large lamp. The shade is made of multi pieces of glass in the lotus style with co cracks, breaks or chips. The hand-riveted lantern features a flared shape and is ornamented with trefoil iron straps and honey-colored slag glass. This light fixture is in excellent condition. The glass is also in excellent condition with no cracks or breaks. The chandelier body measures 7 ½ wide and 8 ½ tall to the finial; the chain is 19 long overall. There is no ceiling canopy. Reticulated raised base with four flare feet. Rectangular green slag glass column with two stylized dolphins on the side. Top is crowned with Rare figural “Flapper” BALLERINA framed by pierced scroll work. Measurements (approximate): 61 7/8″ tall, with a base diameter of 10″. Lamp is in very good condition. Slag glass — no chips or cracks. Pull chain works smoothly. Socket holding bulb can be adjusted back and forth.
