Glass lamp Bronze Filigree Handel Arts & Crafts Style shade! This is a magnificent, Meyda Tiffany Arts and Crafts Handel style Bronze filigree slag glass panel lamp shade with with bronze base. The stunning lamp shade has a bottom shade width of 12 inches (30.48 cm) with a shade height of about 7.5 inches (19 cm). The whole lamp with base and shade measures 18.5 inches (47 cm) tall. The lamp shade alone weighs 7.5 pounds (3.4 Kg) by itself without any packing materials, and the angular bronze base is hollow inside but still weighs a hefty 3 pounds 4 ounces (1.45 Kg) by itself without shade or packing materials. So, altogether the lamp weighs a substantial 10.75 pounds (4.87 Kg) with lamp shade and base together by themselves without any packing materials. Rare Bigelow & Kennard Bronze Lamp Base. Leaded, Slag Glass Shade. Handel Lamp Era
Up for consideration is a very rare Bigelow Kennard solid bronze base. First of all these are very hard to find. Not many Kennard bases come around for sell. They are in collectors hands waiting for that great shade to come along. I know of one more thats not complete same base for more then Im asking. This base has its orig. Gold patina and is 100 plus years old. Cant see makers mark on socket due to the gold finish. One socket has a minor crack as shown. 28 tall and foot is 7 Square and is very heavy wonderful base. Gorham Bronze Lamp Base For Leaded Slag Glass Handel Tiffany Studios Era
DESCRIPTION – This is a early 1900s lamp base by Gorham Manufacturing co. And signed’GORHAM CO. QV411′ Even though Gorham specializes in silver they took advantage of Tiffany’s popularity by making amazing lamps themselves. It has a bronze body on a wood base. It has a 3 light cluster with one pull and two turn-key style sockets. The 6 sided form would go great with an arts & crafts, art deco or art nouveau style shade. CONDITION – This lamp base is in great original condition. It has very nice even patina. The lamp has been rewired at some point and works well. The original finial and shade rest is included. It could use a good professional cleaning. MEASUREMENTS – It is 21.5″ to top of finial with a 7″ base. The shade rest has a total diameter of 2″ with an interior lip of 1.5″ like most standard Gorham shades. In Art Nouveau or Arts & Crafts design. Let, s start from the shade… Just look at the construction of shade… Very thin leading lines. Super design with outstanding shading shape. Size of shade is 17 3/4 in diameter. Just a few /3-4/ glass panels have heat line cracks, keeps strong structure and in almost an excellent condition. Slightly dirty, which is ok — for lamp over 110 years old. The shade has intertwining fleur-de-lis pattern with nicely matched glass / changing from white off to light blue to light turquoise colors/ that really accentuates the design of shade. About lamp base — simply trumpet style is still of superior quality and was made from a solid bronze. Please look at the picture — how is nice a finial / most nicest elaborate finial made by Gorham Co. This impressive lamp model is one of the most elaborate lamp shades made by Gorham Co. Art Nouveau Bronze & Green Slag Glass Sliding Bookends Rack Apollo/Tiffany RARE
Beautiful Art Nouveau period sliding book-ends. (or book rack) The glass panels on this example is among the best I’ve seen. From research, APOLLO (est 1874) didn’t mark goods “Apollo” until 1909, dating these to pre 1909. (A direct competitor of Tiffany’s). Unless the makers mark is under the enclosed glass panels.
