Slag Glass Lamp Shade Cattails Trees House Bent Glass
Vintage slag glass lamp shade missing one panel of bent glass and one small flat panel. The shade is approx 16 1/2 in diameter. I believe it has had some repair done to the top as seen in pics. Also it is a little out of shape, that is it is about a half inch off when measuring different points in diameter. I see no filigree missing however. Antique Bent Slag Glass Lamp Bradley & Hubbard Miller Handel Empire Styles
This is a wonderful Bent Slag Glass Lamp in near original condition. It is unmarked however, may well be a Miller or Empire Lamp. This lamp stands 21 1/2 inches tall on its beautifully colored and sculpted 8 inch base. Most of the original finish and colors are present and you can see them in the photos. The shade is 17 inches in diameter and about 7 inches tall. All the glass is present and there are no chips or cracks. The metal overlay is complete and also has most of its original colors. The lamp has been correctly rewired and works perfectly. Just a great looking original lamp for your home. This is a large antique arts & crafts bent slag glass and iron lamp shade in the most beautiful colored glass. It features gorgeous blues and purples. It dates to the late 19th century, approximately the 1890′s to 1900′s. Looks to be all original and in great condition with one hairline crack on a top small piece, see last photo. Measures 19″ wide x 11″ tall with the opening at the inside of the top at 6. This piece ships fully insured and free to the lower 48 states. This ships very very carefully packed and fully insured! Pioneered in England, slag-glass lamp shades became popular around the turn of the 19th centuries. This style incorporated streaked, opaque glass initially produced by incorporating slag from iron-smelting foundries. The look became common for paneled lamp shades with complicated metal filigree framing each slag-glass segment. Noted slag-glass lamp manufacturers include Bradley Hubbard, Wilkinson, Handel, and Miller. Up for sale is a lamp that when discovered had been heavily painted from top to bottom, including the sockets, chain, acorns It was almost like the lamp was dipped in paint and I later found that it was painted twice. This was quite the job to clean and remove but the paint may have been a blessing in disguise. Under all the paint was the original Bronze or Brass plating, in fact, the entire lamp is Bronze or Brass plated and the paint protected the original surface. This lamp was completely original (minus the paint) when found. Original wiring and sockets Nothing had been modified since the day it was made. The lamp itself is almost 25 inches tall and the shade is 17 inches across and free of damage to the metal frame or filigree. Its a very heavy lamp and weights in at just over 17 Lbs. Im not sure what metal the base or lamp is made of-Magnets dont stick to the metal. The lamp originally had a two socket cluster which was changed to a newer solid brass 3 socket cluster. The original sockets where kept and the paint removed. The sockets are unlike any I have seen before and look as if they would have been premium sockets in the day and I believe the socket casings are solid bronze shells. The original sockets had the acorn pulls already. Socket is of the period but different from the two original sockets The 3. Socket has an acorn pull. The original cloth cord was threadbare and was replaced with a modern day reproduction twisted cloth cord and the internal wiring was updated to modern cord. The metal work or filigree on the shade frame is free of damage 1 of the clips that holds a slag panel has broken off but it does NOT have any effect all slag panels are firmly held in place. No wiggle or shifting slag panes Guaranteed. The lamp body retains its original factory finish and this original finish is approximately 95% intact. The light sockets work smoothly and the overall condition of the lamp is excellent antique condition. The shade cluster is missing the original cap but one is provided and held in place with the weight of the shade and the finial. The lamp stands approximately 23 inches tall as measured from the table surface to the top of the finial The shade is approximately 18 inches across and has 8 panels From the table top to the bottom of the shade if 13 inches and the shade is 10 inches to the tip of the finial 12 inches if you dont include the finial the light bulb sockets are set fairly high within the fixture.
