Antique 1920s Gorgeous H. E. Rainaud Slag Stained Leaded Art Glass Lamp Exc Cond
Antique 1920s Gorgeous H. Rainaud Slag Stained Leaded Art Glass Lamp Exc Cond. Scroll above for all 20 photos – everything is covered! Antique Glass & Lamp Enthusiasts. 1920s +/- This is… One of the prettiest Early Original Leaded Glass Table Lamps I have acquired, featuring well over 400 pcs of stained and leaded glass in the traditional Tiffany style… And it is in perfect condition. And the metal work is perfect as well. Pastel shades of color, with Ruby and Emerald accents… A very subtle and quaint look to it. It truly cathes your eye. A perfect combination with it’s floral decorated base as well. Antique Early 1900s Period – Bronze Finish Base. With Restored Floral Hand Painted Embellishment. Arts & Crafts period. Cast Metal Base Signed “Rainaud 2″. New Electrical Wiring Only, For Safety (Using Old Style Plug & Cloth Covered Wire). Excerpt from KOVAL’s. Made lamps in Meriden, Conn. From about 1916 until 1930. Meriden was also home to Bradley & Hubbard and the Handel Lamp Co. Also, two more-famous manufacturers of art glass lamps. This lamp features a decorative geometric shade, with pastel shades and accented by 6 Ruby Colored Glass Diamond Shape Pieces within the lower band area, enhanced by an Emerald Green Semi Opalescent double band. The combination is a knockout, when you see it… Either un-lit or lit with one or 2 bulbs. Totally reminiscent of the style of the period. It is capped with the spiral reticulated heat cap and finial. The cap is interestingly treated on the inside with 3 secure reinforcement wires leading to the attachment points and well into the leading. You can see this clearly in the photo of the inside of the cap. This is something you do not see in modern lamps. They knew how to make them last in those days, as this one has! It’s condition is superb. The floral design only (of the base) has been professionally restored to bring it to original appearance. The body has not been touched, as you can see. The piece is signed on the underside of the base… Rainaud 2 (see pictures). In all cases with old lamps, I clean the underside of any rust or residue, and put a coat of bronze finish on it (only the underside). I have them professionally rewired (only the wire itself) for your safety, and done in a manner that represents the old style cloth covered cord & plug. It has the original double electric brass pull chain sockets for either of the 2 bulbs to be lit, or both at once, and of course – off. Perfect for a nite light – main lamp combination. Tested and fully working. My pictures are taken with room light on and one bulb / then 2 bulbs lit, and room light off… And finally with non lit, so you can see all the detail. This lamp, just by the workmanship, says something. Shade Alone Is 16″ Wide – 8″ Ht 6 1/2″ Base Diam Clearance from table top to bottom of shade: 14″. Just the old wiring done over for safe operation, 7 ft cord. Shade maintains original aged antique patina. Read description & See all 20 Pictures. This is a truly unique example of a very warm and charming focal point display or centerpiece table lamp. Lit or Unlit, it’s very formidable design is a show piece. Closeup photos for your review. All my glass items are professionally packed with bubble wrap and foam sheets completely surrounding the item, and plenty of additional protection! Early 20th C Antique Signed Rainaud Slag Glass Panel Lamp Japanese Garden Scene
EARLY 20TH CENTURY CARAMEL & AQUAMARINE SIGNED RAINAUD SLAG GLASS LAMP JAPANESE GARDEN SCENE. Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We’re a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients. With our highest compliments and honor we’re proud to offer for sale this magnificent early 20th century signed Rainaud 6 panel slag glass lamp with fire gilt floral Art Nouveau base and Japanese garden scene shade. Rainaud lamps were made in Meriden Connecticut, alongside others such as Handel, Bradley & Hubbard, and Miller. The United states wasn’t fully electrified until the 1930′s. Superseding this time electric lamps & lighting were reserved for the wealthier families. Lamp makers recognized this and began making lesser toned down versions everyday people could afford. This is the reason why every Handel isn’t worth 5k. This lamp is much nicer than any Rainaud we’ve seen on the market. Once the company moved towards more mass produced lamps they started branding them “RAINAUD”. This lamp is signed under the base with a stylized “R” we believe to be one of his earliest marks. The base is fire gilt in a process that affixes a small amount of gold to the metal giving it it’s luster. The lamp has an overall faux bamboo ornamentation with lilly flower and exotic vegetation. The shade depicts a tranquil Japanese garden scene with cranes, arbor, and a footbridge over water. Caramel or amber glass are the most frequently used shade in lamp making. Miller put it simply, It’s the easiest on the eye and best for reading. The 6 caramel slag glass panels make up the sky with 6 lovely aquamarine sunset panels for the water. There’s an extensive use of embossed metals & filigree to create a wonderful Japanese garden scene. The lamp is 25″ tall with a diameter of 17.5″ at the shade.
