Rare Miller Arts & Crafts Slag Glass Panel Lamp Patinated Bronze Finish
Up for sale is this very rare form Miller Slag glass panel lamp. Both the base and the shade have a green patination finish. I believe the base has a bronze finish over copper, at least the very bottom section. The shade is most likely spelter or pot metal. This lamp as beautiful as it is has some flaws, most notably there is a pretty sizable dent just underneath the most bulbous section of the base (maybe 3 x 1), it blends very well from a few feet away but jumps out under close inspection and feel. The wiring looks to have been replaced a while back and I would recommend recommend rewiring. I believe two glass panels are replaced, possibly just one, but you will note the lacking of the green hue. Finally on the interior of the shade there is a little sloppiness in the way the joints are connected, could be original, could be part of earlier restoration. Otherwise general and expected wear. Lamp base has an abrasive texture. Please view all 12 photos to help judge condition. Base measures about 17 to Finial top. Shade about 16 diameter. The base needs no excuses whatsoever. Zero damage of any sort. The base measures 10 inches tall to the arms and the spread is 4 inches from the center of the socket. Arms can be adjusted of course to fit a different sized shade but at this setting an 7-7.5 inch would be best for now. Properly signed tiffany studios 322 new york. The top of the shade is decorated in a caramel slag seldom seen honeycomb pattern. Shade signed with applied “Handel” tag / please look at the last picture/. The shade rests on a Handel stick base with inverted saucer foot and three “Harvey Hubbel ” socket cluster. The base is finished in a rich brown with subtle “frog skin” green highlights and is topped with a fleur de lis heat cap. Signed on the underside of foot “Handel”. The shade is 18″ in diameter, base is 22-3/4″ tall. Shade is very good to excellent with a few tight / only 4 / hairlines. Base is very good to excellent with some very minor wear to finish.
