Vintage Art Deco Blue Slag Glass Siesta Lamp Mexican Man Cactus Houzex Akro
This unique piece is a vintage Art Deco “Siesta” lamp, often attributed to makers like Houze Glass (Houzex) or Akro Agate, dating from the 1930s to 1940s. It features a classic “Pancho” or sleeping Mexican man leaning against a saguaro cactus, crafted from translucent blue slag/milk glass. Design: A figural base depicting a man in a sombrero taking a “siesta” next to a tall cactus. Material: Pressed slag glass (also known as marble glass) in a striking sky blue. When lit, the glass has a warm, ethereal glow. Shade: The matching blue glass shade has a “coolie” or UFO shape with distinct vertical ribbing. It attaches via a “clip-on” wire fitter directly onto the bulb. Dimensions: Based on your photos, the lamp stands approximately 11.5 to 12 inches tall to the top of the finial, with a shade diameter of about 8.5 inches. This lamp has been professionally updated for daily use while maintaining its 1930s charm. Modernized Wiring: The old, hazardous cloth/rubber wiring has been replaced with a clean, flexible brown PVC zip-cord. Upgraded Plug: Features a modern polarized plug (one prong wider than the other). This ensures the lamp is properly grounded when plugged into modern household outlets, significantly reducing the risk of electrical shock. Authentic Socket: The original Leviton brass-colored socket shell has been preserved to keep the lamp’s antique profile. However, the internal “guts” and the cardboard insulator sleeve are fresh and clean, ensuring the bulb seats securely and operates safely. White & Blue Slag Glass Pendant Silhouette Lamp French Egyptian Revival Motif. White slag glass, 6 panel hanging lamp. It has decorative metal separators for the 6 panels. The bottom is royal blue with an overlay of cut metal design of camels, people, pyramids and palm trees. The blue glass has 2 cracks, but they are intact (not loose) and of no consequence, they don’t show. I do have close up photos of the cracks for your review. The top has a brass chain and wiring for attaching to electricity and hanging (wire is untested). On the inside, you can either use a light bulb by itself or a white glass globe over the light by to difuse the light. The white globe has the typical 3 screws to hold in place. It measures 15″ across and 14″ high. This lamp will be carefully packaged and insured to assure safe arrival. PLEASE TAKE TIME TO LOOK AT MY OTHER LISTINGS. Antique Hollywood Regency Ornate Blue Slag Glass Lamp
Gorgeous rare Hollywood Regency style slag glass lamp. It is made of heavy cast metal in an off white bluish color with lacelike filigree throughout and other ornate decorations including the very pretty knob at the top. Amazingly the pretty glass panels are all intact in the shade as well as in the base which has a place for two candelabra type bulbs so that portion may be lit as well as the shade. The lamp takes two regular sized bulbs and each has its original chain pull. The cord is long and has a switch for easy on and off if you would like to use it that way. This lamp stands 43 1/2 tall so it would probably be the focal point in your room. The shade is 48″ in circumference at the widest part and is 15″ wide at the bottom. The wiring seems to be good. The lamp is missing one of the clamp style sockets in the bottom portion. As I said I don’t see any cracks or chips in any of the glass and the metal seems to be all intact which is so unusual for something this old. I have known of someone who had a similar but smaller lamp and she removed all the glass and painted the entire lamp another color. This lamp is in its original condition as far as I can see. A great find for sure.

Up for your consideration is an antique scenic slag glass lamp made by Miller Lamp Co. The two tone shades are blue and purple when unlit, but a the purple turns a fiery orange when illuminated. The base is not original, but a nice match. It has a 1 silver extension (as seen on the photos of the top of the lamp base). The shade has been professionally repainted, with a period color brown finish as the old patina was worn. There is some minor separation (1/8) between a few panels and the very top of the shade. The glass is stable and stays in place. The lamp has been rewired, and both sockets and pull chains work properly. The finial may not be original. The lamp presents well, has been professionally rewired, and is ready for immediate use. The piece measures 24.5″ tall, and the shade is 17″ in diameter. This quote is for the Continental U.
