Early Edward Miller Slag Glass Reverse Painted Table Lamp- 8 panels
Early Edward Miller Slag Glass Reverse Painted Table Lamp- 8 panels. Glue chip or cracked ice reverse painted bent panel lamp shade by Miller Lamp company and signed on the base. One panel has a chip missing but it cannot be seen from the outside. This chip is pictured. It does have some surface wear on the original brass base enamel and there is some paint wear to the reverse painting This is common with these antique lamps because the heat from the incandescent bulbs would normally cause some wear to the interior painting. This is a very large lamp shade measuring 19″ diameter and the total height is 24.5″. The reverse painting is red flowers and green leaves. The shade finial sits securely in the attached heat cap so there is no movement to the glass and less chance of damage. The double sockets are original silver plated Bryant sockets. The Miller lamp is most likely from the early 1900′s. Displays beautifully and works great. This is not a common size and it is all original. This is one of the largest and nicest Miller lamps that I have come across. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Lamps, Lighting\Lamps”. Early 20th C Antique Signed Rainaud Slag Glass Panel Lamp Japanese Garden Scene
EARLY 20TH CENTURY CARAMEL & AQUAMARINE SIGNED RAINAUD SLAG GLASS LAMP JAPANESE GARDEN SCENE. Thank you for shopping with Bay Colony Antiques. We’re a third generation family owned business furnishing homes all over the world. We aggressively pursue important antiques, decorative arts, and objects of interest for our most discerning clients. With our highest compliments and honor we’re proud to offer for sale this magnificent early 20th century signed Rainaud 6 panel slag glass lamp with fire gilt floral Art Nouveau base and Japanese garden scene shade. Rainaud lamps were made in Meriden Connecticut, alongside others such as Handel, Bradley & Hubbard, and Miller. The United states wasn’t fully electrified until the 1930′s. Superseding this time electric lamps & lighting were reserved for the wealthier families. Lamp makers recognized this and began making lesser toned down versions everyday people could afford. This is the reason why every Handel isn’t worth 5k. This lamp is much nicer than any Rainaud we’ve seen on the market. Once the company moved towards more mass produced lamps they started branding them “RAINAUD”. This lamp is signed under the base with a stylized “R” we believe to be one of his earliest marks. The base is fire gilt in a process that affixes a small amount of gold to the metal giving it it’s luster. The lamp has an overall faux bamboo ornamentation with lilly flower and exotic vegetation. The shade depicts a tranquil Japanese garden scene with cranes, arbor, and a footbridge over water. Caramel or amber glass are the most frequently used shade in lamp making. Miller put it simply, It’s the easiest on the eye and best for reading. The 6 caramel slag glass panels make up the sky with 6 lovely aquamarine sunset panels for the water. There’s an extensive use of embossed metals & filigree to create a wonderful Japanese garden scene. The lamp is 25″ tall with a diameter of 17.5″ at the shade. Early 1900s Antique Mission Arts and Crafts Slag Glass Oil Lamp Stickley Era
Offered is this breathtakingly beautiful top-quality antique. Mission Arts and Crafts Slag Glass Oil Lamp in original condition and dating from the early 1900s. Standing an impressive 2 feet in height, the handsome solid oak base and trim is in amazingly-preserved condition given the age. The contrasting emerald green slag glass and oak shade does have one pane with a very old crack (looks like a repair was attempted long ago; see close-up photo for detail). Nonetheless, the lamp displays beautifully despite the flaw and is quite solid and sturdy. The lamp including its oil tank has NOT been drilled or electrified; the light socket and cord seen are NOT permanent and can easily be removed if you wish to add a wick and use it as an oil lamp. The lamp can also be permanently electrified if desired. Due to its fragility, the lamp will be professionally packaged to ensure safety in transit.
