Arts Craft CHANDELIER STAINED GLASS-John Morgan Slag Glass Chandelier Missions
Arts Craft CHANDELIER STAINED GLASS-John Morgan Slag Glass Chandelier Missions. ANTIQUE-John Morgan Craftsmans Chandelier LAMP Stained Glass. INCREDIBLE RARE SLAG GLASS GAS & ELECTRIC CHANDELIER John Morgan & Sons. Offered is a Very Rare American made and an Absolutely Incredible Curved Slag Glass / Stained Glass Gas & Electric Combination Arts & Crafts Chandelier. You see plenty of them in electric but not the gas/electric combination. This large hanging chandelier is fabulous! The frame is brass construction featuring wide buckle bands on the upper and lower portion of the curved slag glass panels held in with brass frame work, with additional slag panels in the crown, crown is removable. Still has what I believe may be its original silk fringe which looks as though it can be removed. Both gas and electric was common around the turn of the century. This fixture has four gas burners on the outside ring of shade and three electric sockets inside the shade. All glass colors are antique & beautiful! The all original insanely beautiful slag glass panels are full of color and fire the photo’s truly can’t do it any justice. Retains its beautiful and original filigree gas control finials. The fixture itself is 18″ tall, the widest is 24″ and the diameter of the shade is 18. The chain itself is about 48. Weight of the chandelier is about 20 pounds. I know that the faux candle holders that cover the gas pilots are crooked, it was a challenge for me to photograph because of the size and weight. Nice coloration, one slag with a tight hairline and is barely seen, has hung for years. I have one hanging in my dining room worse and I never notice it. They are just so beautiful and rare. One screw on band missing. Patina consistent with age. Used, good overall age appropriate condition, wear commensurate with age, nothing offensive. Typical signs of use and age. This is about 100 plus years old and will show signs of wear to be expected. Photos are considered part of the listing description. Condition is old yet in very good condition. Please consider this piece is an antique… By its very nature of being old, it is not “dead mint” or perfect. Explore the accompanying photos to examine the age-related wear, acknowledging that perceptions of acceptable wear can vary among collectors. RARE John Morgan Leaded Slag Glass Fruit Lamp Shade Chandelier Handel Tiffany
Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is about as rare as it gets in a leaded glass chandelier. Made by John Morgan & Sons this wonderful painted fruit hanger is the best of the best. Anything made by this company is rare, and while I have owned many of their grape shades, I have never seen this particular chandelier before. It is just stunning. It has a combination of their famous chunk glass for the grapes and their painted pieces for the pears and apples. I will let my pictures do most of the talking here but will note that the shade is in excellent overall condition with no repairs or missing pieces. I see a couple of small cracks in the green boarder pieces (none in the big top ones) and one of the pears has a tight s-shaped hairline which sort of blends in with the shape of the pear anyway. This is a very large shade that measures 25″ in diameter but then curls under to 21″ to make the very unusual shape you see here. It is 18 deep. What’s really great about this chandelier is the hammered petal top piece and spiral grape vine wires that illustrate another aspect of John Morgan’s design work. The shade has its original 6-socket Weber turn key cluster and has hanging hardware that measures about 18″ long (so in total this chandelier would hang about 36″ from your ceiling). It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and comes ready to hang in your home. This is an incredibly RARE hanger in wonderful original condition that lights up amazingly. It would make a statement in any room. If you like lamps or need parts please feel free to look at my other auctions or contact me. Morgan & Sons Leaded Lamp, Slag, Stained Glass Shade, Arts Crafts, Handel Lamp Era
Up for consideration is a very nice and early Morgan & Sons leaded glass lamp. This is a great looking Morgan and very early. The lamp stands at 23 tall to the top of the finial. The shade is 15 in Diameter. The best about this lamp is the shade and base are not a marriage even tho most makers shades and bases are interchangeable. This shade and base are meant to be together on the day it was made. The Morgan base is very nice and all original with a nice bark brown patina with a pair of Harvey Hubbell sockets with original mica interiors and acorn pulls. The base has matching style Cabochons half round design matching the leaded shade. Morgan bases are rarer then there shades. Most Morgan shades you see for sell if you can find one will have a base from another maker. The Leaded shade is very nice 15 Dia with great color that really fires up as you can see. The skirt has the half round glass Cabochons that match the style of the base. There has been 4 panels that have been replaced. The repair looks to be very old and very well done. There are about 7 small heat cracks around the skirt of the shade most are in the half rounds. I took a lot of pictures which is part of the description. A hard to find lamp even with the repairs this is a amazing and rare Morgan. Any questions please ask.
