Charles Parker Arts & Crafts Leaded Slag Stained Glass Lamp Handel Duffner Era
Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is a great example of a Charles Parer leaded slag glass lamp. These guys made some terrific designs using a combination of leaded and slag glass pieces with heavy overlay. The result is one of the best overlay lamp designs out there. This one is a particularly nice floral pansy? Boarder example in excellent overall condition. I will let my pictures do most of the talking here, but will say that the shade is in excellent condition without a single crack. It measures 19 1/2″ in diameter and the lamp stand 22″ tall. The base has a wonderful dragon motif and is done in a coppery sort of finish (which matches the shade perfectly). The base has its original matching sockets with porcelain interiors and ball ended pull chains as well as its original finial, and has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. If you like lamps or need parts please feel free to look at my other auctions or contact me. That being said, please do not embarrass yourself with a lowball offer thinking you are going to get such a lamp like this. It is just a waste of both of our times. If you want to get a cheap lamp, go to WalMart or Ikea. If you are watching this just to watch and see if it sells, that’s fine. It is not signed but it has all the attributes such as the finial, cap, base design and shade overlay. Thats said, what a cool design and great look. Its a midsized lamp and as such more multi purpose. The base measures 22.5 inches tall and has no damage or issues. Its got its original patina throughout and its in very nice condition and with nice old matching bryant sockets. The base without damage of any kind and in fine working order. It’s been recently rewired with period style and correct cloth cord. The shade measures 18 inches wide. The shade in very nice overall condition and has no glass breaks in the panels also the filligree all in place and also without losses. The shade not out of round at all and i see no breaks in the metalware. Zone two would be 75.00 times 20% which equals 15.00 which is added to the 75.00 and becomes 90.00. Zone three is 75.00 times 33% which is 25.00 which then becomes 100.00 for zone three. Sorry to do this and I hope you will stay on as fine and loyal customers. So when I see your offers, I have to subtract those costs to get to my net. The costs can be up to 250.00 per item depending on the final price. I will be offering my lamps as reasonable as possible so as to 1. Not cause sticker shock like so many other sellers, 2. To sell them and not let my inventory sit around for years on end. Thanks for checking this great lamp out and please check out my other great lighting options as well. Recently I have been putting different lighting on with reserves and no reserves. Please Check out my other items! Some great Bradley Hubbard, Tiffany, Handel, etc. To all potential buyers. Please feel free to. Chances are if there aren’t any, it’s a newer item and you shouldn’t want it anyways. In other words, a minor blemish on some metalwork belonging to a large shade or a 1/16 by 1/16 of a paint flake missing, please try and be reasonable. I always describe the important aspects towards condition reports and sometimes my eye misses what I deem immaterial issues such as the aforementioned sentence. Thanks for your understanding. There are a few things in life we cant do without. Food, water, fire, oxygen, the sun, shelter etc. So when it comes to shelter and necessary light for it, thats where I come in. I believe in living simply and within my means but surrounded by items of great quality. Of and the wasteful utilities that go along with that. So why is it people go out and spend. Not to mention you got the same usage for that entire time period? This makes infinitely more financial sense than the other choice, plus you have a conversation piece in the room and something to be proud of. Also you have more cultural feeling invested in something 100 years old knowing that it can never be duplicated by modern making techniques and knowing there a few, if any, like it left for this world and now its yours. You display it and care for it. So again thats where I come in. Great period lighting when electricity was still in its infancy. When makers like Bradley and Hubbard, Handel, Tiffany studios, Pairpoint, and others cared about quality, appearance, and function. When makers were trying to outdo one another with this new business boom of electric lighting. When we went from whale and kerosene oil lamps and gas, to electric. This is when the best lamps in the world were manufactured and the ones I want to light my home with when its dark. I cant control the sun or the amount of light it provides or when it comes up or goes down, and whether its cloudy or not, but I can control the light in my home when its dark. And like I said earlier, I want nice rugs, paintings, pottery, furniture, etc. And I want to see those items lit by great lighting. Its what makes a home more outstanding and livable because without it you see absolutely nothing. A quality lamp makes or breaks a room. You can have the best rugs, furniture, paintings, and accessories in the world, but without great lamps or lighting nobody will ever see it.
