Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. Check out this really amazing, highly unusual, and I suspect very rare JA Whaley lamp. I have only had one like this before with the same octagonal shape, but it had cattails around the border. This pattern I have never seen before and its just wonderful….. Especially if you love or live by the sea! Just look at the different themes in it….. Sailboats, windmills and figures wondering the dunes….. All against a beautiful blue ocean and sky background. It really doenst get much better than this in an unusual sea themed lamp! I will let my pictured do most of the talking here and from them you can see 8 different sea themes around the border. In terms of size, this is a very large and impressive table lamp. The shade is 19″ in diameter and the lamp stands just over 27″ tall. There are a few very minor cracks here and there, but none in the large blue border pieces and only one small one near the top. The well known JA Whaley base shows up with a lot of their shades. Its pot metal with its original dark brownish finish. It has its original P&S labeled sockets, shade rest, cast metal cap and finial. It has been wired with period style cord and comes ready to use and enjoy. If you like lamps or need parts please feel free to look at my other auctions or contact me. Really nice form with thick a great design of yellow flowers and green leaves. In terms of size, the shade measures 7 1/2″ square and lamp is 15 1/2″ tall. In terms of condition I see no cracks or chips and the glass and the filigree is all good and original. The pot metal base has much of its original gold wash finish and what looks like its original socket with a ball ended pull chain. It has been recently wired and comes ready to use and enjoy. It is a very nice looking all. Desk or accent lamp that would look great in an arts & crafts setting. If you like lamps or need parts please feel free to look at my other auctions or contact me. Mission art craft stained slag glass lamp tiffany studios handel whaley stickley
A large incredible antique all original very rare J. Whaley mission arts & crafts solid bronze leaded slag glass table lamp in excellent condition. This is one of the most beautiful lamps on e-bay. This lamp is truly a very finely hand crafted work of art from a master craftsman. You rarely see this amount of detail in any lamp. You very rarely can find a all original lamp like this in this condition anymore. The original very rich green bronze patina is in excellent untouched condition with no damage to it anywhere. They used the some of the most beautiful slag you will ever see anywhere it is full of color and fire the photo’s truly don’t do it any justice at all. There are what appear to be three cracks in the very beautiful slag glass panels shown in the two last photos. They must be very tight cracks because you can’t feel them with your finger nail at all and you can’t see them at all unless the lamp is turned on that will go unnoticed. I’ve never seen anything like it before. They are close together and can be turned to the rear. The original bronze patina on the leaded is in excellent condition. The shade is in very sound and tight condition with no loose pieces of glass. The whole base and parts are constructed from solid bronze and it has a cast iron weight in the bottom of it making it very heavy and stable. Antique AJ Whaley lamp base leaded/slag glass Handel Era. Made of spelter, 22 tall to shade ring. Would be 23 tall with cap. 3 socket, one Hubbell other two mixed, long chains. While I hesitate to assign a maker there, I do believe this to be a J A Whaley prairie style leaded glass table lamp. It is a very cool and very well made lamp with a very nice geometric design in a flat prairie style or pagoda looking form. I will let my pictures do most of the talking here and as you can see from them the lamp displays extremely well and would look awesome in any setting. The shade is composed of deep caramel white pieces mixed with dark green ones to give off just the right amount of contrast. The glass is just beautiful and the design is totally arts & crafts. In terms of size, this is a standard sized table lamp with a 16 1/2″ diameter shade that stands 20 1/2″ tall. In terms of condition, I see one or two small cracks, but nothing serious and no replaced pieces. The lobed form base is why I believe this to be a Whaley lamp, but neither it nor the shade is signed so the true maker may never be known. What it is is a 100% old and authentic lamp, from the early 1900′s, in fine original condition. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. J A Whaley is not as well known as Duffner or Handel, but they made some awesome lamps and this is one of them!
