Signed Handel 3 socket full tree trunk Lamp with22 slag glass leaded shade
Signed Handel full 3 socket tree trunk Lamp w/22 slag glass leaded shade. This is a massive Handel lamp base with an enormous leaded shade. The lamp base retains its original patina consistent with its age. The ornate tree trunk design is clearly defined (see pictures). The extension on the top was made by Handel for larger shades made during that period. The lamp stands 26 tall to the top of the finial, it has Paiste sockets with acorn pulls. The shade may have been made by Handel or made for them. This shade design is shown in the Paul Crist Book on page 161 in the domical shape, peony design, although some of the colors may have been made up custom. As he suggests shades of this design could have been made by Hamilton Howell designer of Duffner and Kimberly shades. But the shade was definitely made for a Handel Lamp at some point. You can tell by the shade ring in the glass that fits perfect to the Handel ring, my assumption is that possibly someone had the lamp base and added the shade with the riser at some point? The lamp appears to have been recently rewired. I will be listing some top end lamps that I have available. We invite questions to be asked at any time!!!! 5 light large tree trunk base and gorgeous shade. This is a substantial piece measuring approximately 30 high 11 wide base bottom and 22 wide 10 1/2 high shade. Wear commensurate of age and use with a few heat cracks and some slight separation from leading as shown easily filled but stable. There is some loss to the bronze finish on the lamp base, and there is a separation or split at the top of the shade. Neither the shade or lamp base is signed, Ive seen several similar bases attributed to the Handel lamp company, but the shade doesnt seem to be in their style. Antique Handel Arts & Crafts Leaded Slag Stained Glass Tree Trunk Lamp Base
Here’s a nice, original, complete Handel tree trunk lamp base. These are very versatile and make your Handel overlay, leaded or reverse painted lamp look so much better. This particular one is in very nice condition with its original finish and hardware. 23 1/2″ tall, 8 1/4″ bottom. 3 signed Hubbell sockets with their original porcealin interiors and acorn ended pull chains. Base is prominently stamped HANDEL 5330 on the underside as shown. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. These don’t come up that often so here’s your chance to get one. If you like lamps or need parts please feel free to look at my other auctions or contact me. That being said, please do not embarrass yourself with a lowball offer thinking you are going to get such a lamp like this. It is just a waste of both of our times.
