Arts & Crafts J A Whaley Leaded Slag Stained Glass Table Lamp Handel Era
Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is an extremely nice example of J A Whaley’s work in stained glass table lamps. I have owned a few of these petal form shades, but hands down this is the very best one I have seen. The glass in both the petals and the background is just outstanding. The petals are done with a mix of green and brown glass that looks different in each petal. The yellow is some of that really nice stuff that Bradley & Hubbard commonly used….. Deep, dark, and highly colorful. Together they make for one fantastic looking shade. I will let my pictures do most of the talking here and as you can see from them the lamp displays extremely well and would look awesome in any arts & crafts setting. In terms of size, the shade measures 20″ in diameter and the lamp stands about 25″ tall. In terms of condition I do not see even a single crack in any of the glass panels….. This lamp was well cared for! The base as well retains its original finish and its wonderful cast cap that is so famous of Whaley lamps. It has what appear to be its original Bryant labeled sockets with their original. Interiors and ball ended pull chains. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. This is a large and impressive lamp made by a quality maker in the true arts and crafts style. It is a beautiful example of J A Whaley’s work and is in very fine condition overall. If you like lamps or need parts please feel free to look at my other auctions or contact me. That being said, please do not embarrass yourself with a lowball offer thinking you are going to get such a lamp like this. It is just a waste of both of our times. Large Arts & Crafts, Nouveau J. A. Whaley Leaded Stained Slag Glass Table Lamp
The item came from clean home where it was cared for and displayed for the enjoyment of others. Unseen before it is now offered for a quick sale. Please ask any questions! Whaley leaded stained slag glass table lamp from circa 1910-20, s. The base, finial, heat cap and an original two sockets are having a nice rich dark black patina. Size of the lamp is 24,5 ” tall by 20″ in diameter. No damage to lamp base, only a few heat cracks which is usually for the lamp over 100 years old. J A Whaley Arts & Crafts Leaded Slag Stained Glass Lamp Handel Tiffany Era
Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is beautiful example of one of J A Whaley’s tulip lamps. Bright yellow flowers with green petals against a really nice dark green background. I will let my pictures do most of the talking here as they can do a better job at explaining it than I can, but rest assured that this is a really fine example of this particular lamp. The colors and glass are just outstanding. A few tiny cracks here and there, but no replaced pieces. Large 20 diameter shade. Lamp stands a whopping 26 tall. The base retains all of its original hardware including matching Bryant pull chains with their original interiors and ball ended pull chains. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. Folks, this is a very nice example of J A Whaley’s work. I have seen a few tulips before, but the glass in this one is much better. If you have ever wanted a great example from this maker, this may be the one for you. Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is a really sweet J. Whaley leaded lamp done with what appears to be a rose style boarder. Just look at the wonderful colors in this one and imagine how nice this lamp would look on a table in your home. Whaley made some really impressive, great looking lamps and this is one of them. Great design, great glass, large and impressive overall. I will let my pictures do most of the talking here as they can do a better job of describing this lamp than I can. With this one, the glass is the key and it is all granite backed in the shade. The result is a. Glow when lit with the flowers just jumping out at you. Whaley also shaded the background glass with lighter colored green at the top going down to darker green near the apron. This also helps to accentuate the flowers. Many of the middle panels are also bent which takes more time to do and is a characteristic of a better quality shade. Its just a really impressive design all the way around. In terms of condition, I see no replaced pieces or repairs and only a few small cracks here and there (the worst of which is shown in image 9). This is a large table lamp with a 20″ diameter shade that stands just about 24″ tall. The base is pot metal with a beautiful original dark brown finish. It has what appear to be its original sockets with “General Electric” labeled shells and satellite ended pull chains. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and an old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. If you have ever wanted one of these J. Leaded lamp, antique slag, stained glass arts and crafts, handel, whaley B&H era
Up for your consideration is an unsigned arts and crafts style bent glass leaded lamp. The lamp is 21″ inches tall and the shade is 16″ inches in diameter and 6 1/2 inches deep. This bent panel shade has lovely glass and is decorated with stylized acanthus leaves at the rim. My wife and I actually considered keeping it but, alas I have way too many lamps and need to sell a few. The shade is in excellent condition with very few tight hear cracks but they don’t detract from the lamps beauty at all. The base has wear appropriate with its age and is wired with newer vinyl covered wire. Both sockets are replacements and are in working order. I can rewire the lamp with period cloth wire and install old period sockets if you desire but this lamp needs nothing unless you are a purist. I have many types of sockets including Hubbells with acorn pull chains or paddles and plenty of wire. Rare Whaley Leaded Lamp Shade, Stained Glass, Slag Glass, Arts Crafts, Handel Era
Up for consideration is a very nice Whaley leaded glass shade. The shade has fantastic highend glass and wonderful brown patina. The shade is large 20 Dia. And is 7 1/2 tall. The top opening is 2 5/8. The shade is in great shape for a 100 year old shade with 8 to 10 tight heat cracks and one chip on the bottom edge and has no glass lose on the inside of the shade. That is shown on the last picture. I took many pictures which are part of the description. Thank you for looking. In the Williamson, Handel or Whaley pattern, the domed shade with green geometric background with blooming ” Iris” in the lower irregular part of shade. The shade in overall very good condition, stable without loss to glass or repairs, only a few tight hairline cracks. With flowers were used granite backed deep red, pink glass panels. The base, finial, heat cap was made from bronze, lamp base was made as a famous pattern tree trunk and an original three sockets “HUBBEL” with an original pull chains and acorn finials- are having a nice rich dark black patina. J a whaley dragon arts crafts leaded slag glass antique Bradley hubbard era lamp
Fabulous and rare Whaley dragon lamp with red and green glass… The effect is as if the dragon is breathing red fire out of its mouth for the world to see… The glass is without breaks or chips, and the overlay is all present and’accounted for. The base measures 25 inches tall, and is rewired with proper period style cloth cord and old plug. It retains the old sockets and satellite pulls, and all three are in fine working order. The base also retains its original patina throughout, as well as its cap. The shade measures 18 and 1/4 inches at its widest, and is in fine structual condition, having no breaks in the glass nor metal. All leading is tight and solid, and the patina matches the base very nicely as well. The overlay is all there and without breaks, although it is lifting up a bit in a couple of spots. Antique J A Whaley Arts & Crafts Leaded Slag Stained Art Glass Handel Era Lamp
Here’s a really nice floral boarder leaded slag glass lamp that I believe was made by the J A Whaley compay. It is not signed and I have no way to tell for sure, but I have owned the exact Whaley base before and the shade is reminiscent of the style that they made. Regardless of who made it, this is one great lamp. It uses a combination of curved caramel slag glass panels in the top which end at a magnificent floral boarder of bright red 5-petal flowers. Very nice lamp with great presence, especially when the lit! It is a large table lamp with an 18″ diameter shade that stands 25″ tall. It is in very good overall condition with one small barely noticeable crack in one of the upper panes (as shown) and a few more in the floral boarder. The 4-socket base has matching Hubbell sockets with acorn ended pull chains and has been wired with period style cloth braided cord. This is a great example of a very colorful leaded glass lamp that I believe was made by the J A Whaley company sometime in the early 1900′s.
