Attributed to M I L L E R o r ROYAL ART GLASS CO. This beautifully designed antique lamp f eatures a hexagonal (6 panels) curved shade, each reserve repeating a silhouette tree in landscape, mounted with curved, textured, pressed green, blue, red, light purple, white, brown figured glass panels and ornate filagree. The body otherwise unmarked. Height: 12″ Diameter: 20″. The swag design is VERY RARE and HARD TO FIND! We are including the ceiling attachment and original heavy chain link which measures approximately 30 inches in length (see photo #11). Antique Slag Glass Scenic Lamp Shade Miller, Salem Bros, Bradley & Hubbard
Offered for sale is an antique style slag glass lamp shade with a scenic country-side design. I have no provenance for this lamp shade, but it looks to be a good match for either a Miller, Salem Bros. Or Bradley & Hubbard lamp base. The interior hexagon framing is steel reinforced, whereas the decorative metal is not magnetic (likely zinc and/or nickel with a bronze plating). I detect no significant damage other than some chipping of the slag glass panels only visible from the underside of the shade. The cottage windows design does show some missing muntins in a few of the panels. The lamp shade measures 16-1/2″ across the bottom, it is about 8″ high, and has a 3-1/2 opening on the top. Antique Salem Bros Scenic 12-Panel Slag Glass Lamp – Beautiful. Excellent condition with some light age related wear. All glass panels are original and intact. Upper panels are light bluish glass with other colors mixed in – while the lower panels are green glass. Shade is in excellent condition and shows scenes of a house with a bridge and trees and other plants in the metal work. The base is in excellent condition with no breakage. This lamp was made by Salem Bros. As marked on the bottom of the base. This lamp has two sockets – Only one socket is currently working. The other will need a new pull switch or repair to the current switch. The cord and plug are in good condition – The cord was replaced at some point. This lamp measures about 22 tall. The shade measures 16 1/2 across at the widest. The base measures 7 diameter. This is a beautiful, authentic 12-panel scenic slag glass lamp. It looks great with its high level of detail and the multi-colored glass. The only flaw is that one socket needs the pull switch mechanism replaced or repaired. The other socket works fine, so the lamp is still usable as is. It uses standard size light bulbs that are readily available anywhere. Feel free to ask me any questions about this great lamp. Antique Howard Miller Scenic Desert Palm Slag Glass Lamp Working Excellent
This lamp has a 16 slag glass panels with caramel (white and tan) upper panels and blue along the bottom. The scene is palm trees and a church with a steeple. This is the same lamp pictured in Quality Electric Lamps by LW Book Sales, page 83. Lamp is cast iron and the shade trim is spelter or lead (white metal). The metal parts have been finished with a bronze color – I do not know if that is original to the lamp or not. The wiring is as I bought it, but as with any electrical item, you should have it checked for safety. CONDITION: Excellent – no damage on shade or lamp – few flaws/finish wear in the paint on the base. MEASUREMENTS: 23 1/2 to top of finial. Shade is 15 3/4″ at the bottom and stands 8″ top to bottom.
