Description: Tiffany Studios grapevine pattern bronze and green slag glass desk lamp, 19th Century. Variegated green art glass to the shade of the lamp. Grapevine pattern with gilt bronze details. Signed to the underside. In 1897, Tiffany acquired a bronze foundry. In addition to lamps and candlesticks, Tiffany Studios offered a variety of metalwork fancy goods in hammered or spun copper and cast bronze. Great size on this slag glass lamp with bronze patina. 24 inches tall x 21 inch wide shade. Slag shades have a textured surface with a reverse painted/printed pattern – which is very unusual. Great color and design. Base is in good condition, we suggest rewiring. Clips that hold the shades in place are missing on most spaces, so when photographed we used tape to hold panels in place. There’s are also two breaks in the outer shade rim, see photos. It is still structurally sound because it is s very well made shade. There is a (original to the piece)thick wire welded to the outer underside rim of the shade for support. There is tape residue on the underside of shades that should be removed. We photographed the lamps underside with the blue tape I used to hold the shades in place for the photograph. See partial pic of blue tape. Fine detail from the base to the rim of the shade with the curly wave like design… The finial is also interesting, like an urn. The Shade is very beautifully decorated with numerous pieces of colored glass blended together and designed with lots of eye catching flowers. Not sure of the name brand, but going how it’s built I would say possibly a Quezel because of the quality and detail invloved in making this one of a kind Shade. It measures 17″ across x 7.5″ High.
