Antique Vintage Leaded Slag Stained Glass Suess Handel Duffner Tiffany Era Lamp
I bought this awesome looking, very large, overall floral lamp some time ago believing it to be Suess. It does have many of the characteristics of Suess, but I now believe it to more likely be made by either Colonial Art Glass or. Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. First off let me say that this is a HUGE lamp. It measures 24 1/2″ tall and the shade is 20″ in diameter. The base has a 12 diameter foot. The shade is just fabulous and lights up like you wouldn’t believe. All of the flowers and petals are made with granite backed glass to give them extra fire. Many are actually bent to give the shade its shape. The yellow/caramel background glass works well to highlight these flowers and is a very nice touch. I see 3 or 4 small cracks in the glass, but nothing serious. No replaced glass and no repairs. The base is just outstanding. Solid cast bronze with the best age darkened patina i have ever seen on one. It has what look like its original long Hubbell sockets with their original interiors and acorn ended pull chains. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. That being said, please do not embarrass yourself with a lowball offer thinking you are going to get such a lamp like this. It is just a waste of both of our times. If you want to get a cheap lamp, go to WalMart or Ikea. A quick note about the cap. When I bought this lamp it did not come with one. It was stored in the attic for a long time and the owner could not find it. I have a few hundred caps here and i tried my best to find one that matches. It was hard to do since the top opening is such a large size (5 in diameter). The one that is on it now is an old one, but not original. I just wanted to note that. Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is a wonderful Suess leaded lamp done in the true Arts & Crafts style. Just look at the lines and the colors and imagine how nice this lamp would look on a Stickley table. Suess made some really impressive, super high quality lamps and this is one of them. Great design, tight lead lines, solid bronze bases….. This one has it all. The colors are simple, yet well defined and nicely shaded from top to bottom. The bright reddish pieces contrast the mainly green/white backgound just enough for you to notice them. This is a full sized table lamp with a 18″ diameter shade that stands just over 20″ tall. The base again is solid bronze with a beautiful dark greenish finish that matches the shade very nicely. The base has what appear to be its original sockets with “E” labeled turn keys. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and an old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. If you have ever wanted one of these Suess lamps, this is your chance to get a very nice example. I think you will agree that it is well worth it to get it as pictured. All that being said. Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is a wonderful and quite unusual Suess leaded lamp with an overall floral pattern. Suess made some really impressive, super high quality lamps and this is one of them. Great design, tight lead lines, solid bronze bases….. This one has it all. This one has a very unusual scattered mosaic glass background that really sets it apart from a lot of others that typically have simple brickwork backgrounds. In addition, the repeating pink floral (possibly a pond lily) design really stands out against it. I will let my pictures do most of the talking here since they show this lamps beauty more than I can possibly describe. I will say that this is a full sized table lamp with a 17 1/2″ diameter shade that stands 19″ tall. The base again is solid bronze with a beautiful dark brown finish. It has what appear to be its original Bryant labeled sockets with “F” labeled turn keys. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and an old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy.
