Antique Art Nouveau Slag Glass Table Lamp – Empire Lamp Co. “Morning Glory” Shade on Bradley & Hubbard Cluster Base c. A stunning, 100% authentic early 20th-century Art Nouveau bent slag glass table lamp. This heirloom piece features the highly desirable “Morning Glory and Trellis” filigree overlay shade manufactured by the renowned Empire Lamp Company of Chicago, factory-paired with a heavy cast-metal base featuring its original Bradley & Hubbard (B&H) stamped socket cluster. The metalwork on both the shade and the base is unified, antique bronze patina, confirming this lamp has aged together as an original, unaltered unit for over a century. 1910′s Heavy Large Antique Floor Lamp with Slag Glass Wood & Metal -STUNNING
We have a huge heavy antique slag glass, baluster FLOOR LAMP for sale. This is a very heavy ornate lamp and the post is made of a combination of metal (maybe brass) and wood in a leaf and scroll pattern. The shade is 16 1/4″ square and measures 20″ from the top of the finial to the bottom of the beads. The entire lamp stands just short of 7 feet tall. The base bottom measures 15 1/4″ across and the fattest part of the post is a little over 7″ across. It has a double pull chain light and still sports its original wiring. The shade is made of metal with tabs for holding the glass inserts in. It had slag glass inserts, but l removed them as a couple of the pieces were broken and all of the slag glass pieces – even the broken ones – come with it. I tried to make it match my livingroom decor which is in a French theme, so l had the local glass cutters copy and cut all 12 pieces in plexiglass so that l could cover the plexiglass with fabric to match my room. I glued on the fabric and gloss sealed so it can be cleaned. There was long fringe hanging from the shade, but l removed it and it was so rotten that l threw it away. I bought bead trim and glued it on the inside edge. I think it came out beautiful!! To me it is a lot prettier to use this way, but collectors may want to repair the two broken pieces of slag glass and use them – you get both the plexiglass and the slag glass so it is your choice. And just let it ride to see what happens. I will help anyway l can. This is a family heirloom and l hate to part with it, but it just doesn’t fit my decor. ADDED THIS ON ——– January 6, 2017 ——- If you would like to see similar lampshades like the one on this lamp, google “vintage mission floor lamps” or “vintage craftsman floor lamps” – grandma always called it a slag lamp, but only the glass can be slag and as for the post, l have not seen one like it and l have been trying to find one for years, with hours spent on the net searching.
