Extremely rare turn-of-the-century electrified A. Kaufman leaded slag glass table lamp. These originally used Coleman burners, however this looks to have been professionally electrified sometime in the 1920′s or 1930′s with beautiful period-correct brass hardware with the perfect amount of patina to match the lamp. This is a rare opportunity to get one of these century-old leaded slag glass lamps that’s period-correct but also USABLE without having to worry about cleaning out gas jets or burning down your house/office. The original base gas tank is there, but in doing a complete retrofit the burner was removed. Looks great this way. These Kaufman stems come up for sale quite a bit, but without the shade since so few weren’t broken of the last 100+ years. This is a rare example with NO CRACKS or chips. The metal trim however has at least some manufacturing defects (almost all of them did) where pieces from the cast weren’t completely formed. See the last 4 photos, specifically photo 11 to see for yourself. In addition to having no cracks or chips, this early example of slag glass actually has bits of iron slag visible in it. It’s just a fantastic example of early unique glasswork. 22″ tall and the shade is just short of 12″ in diameter. Metal edges of the shade are beautifully hand-formed and also show no cracks.
