Duffner & Kimberly Arts & Crafts Leaded Slag Stained Glass Lamp Tiffany Era
Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is a beautiful example of Duffner & Kimberly’s work. The shade is done in an upside down basket style, and the peony floral pattern is reproduced twice on the shade. I have seen this style shade with hollyhock flowers, but this is the first example of a peony one that I have come across. I will let my pictures do most of the talking here, but will note that the glass is all original and there are maybe 4 or 5 small cracks here and there. The shade is 18″ in diameter and the lamp stands 24″ tall. The simple colonial style base has its original finish and sockets and has been wired with period style cloth braided cord. Folks, nice floral lamps from Duffner & Kimberly do not come up all that often and I can honestly say that you won’t find one in as nice or in as original condition as this one. If you have ever wanted a great example of a true Duffener & Kimberly original lamp, this may be the one for you. Thanks, and please see my other listings for other great lamps from this period. If you like lamps or need parts please feel free to look at my other auctions or contact me. That being said, please do not embarrass yourself with a lowball offer thinking you are going to get such a lamp like this. It is just a waste of both of our times. If you want to get a cheap lamp, go to WalMart or Ikea. If you are watching this just to watch and see if it sells, that’s fine. Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is a nice example of a later Duffner & Kimberly arts & crafts lamp. I say later since the design of the cluster and cap were modified. Please see my last picture of the cluster setup as it is identified in Paul Crist’s Book, Mosaic Shades II. And the base was made simpler as the company faced. Still, these later lamps were made with the quality one would expect from Duffner, even in the face of the company’s impending demise. This particular one features a. Style shade with oblong jewels in the boarder. The jewels to me look like amber with streaks of white in them….. Just beautiful to look at. They protrude out from the shade as one of my images shows. This is a full sized table lamp with an 18″ diameter shade that stands 22″ tall. I see two or three small cracks in the dark brown apron pieces, but none in the triangular top sections or jewels. The base has a wonderful multi colored patina. It has its original cap, finial, and sockets which are dated June 13,’99. It has been wired with cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. Duffner Kimberly Lamp, Leaded, Slag, Stained Glass Shade, Arts Crafts, Handel Lamp
Up for consideration is a very fine Duffner & Kimberly Adams Lamp. This beauty is shown in the PAUL Crist Mosaic Shades Vol. 2 book page 204. This lamp is in fantastic condition. I counted 3 very small heat cracks on the bottom border. The lamp is huge 29 tall with a 8 foot. The shade is 22 in Dia. And 9 deep with a 3 3/4 slip fitter. This lamp is done in an Orig. Gold gilt finish from the shade leading to the base. The base is all orig. When I rewired this Base with period correct Brown cloth lamp wire all the sections of the base are numbered including the shade cap as shown. The sockets are Hubbell Harvey with orig. Interiors and acorn pulls. All matching gold gilt, even the Acorns. The plug is also Hubbell. The shade is just stunning. The glass is all orig. There is some wear to the gold gilt leading, Which is to be expected for 100 plus years old. These lamps dont come up very often. Please know lowball offers on this lamp. I will not sell this on a giveaway price. I have other pictures of the minor cracks or if you need additional pics or questions please ask. We can discuss this option with the new owner. I also have other lighting up for sell so please take a look. The item “Duffner Kimberly Lamp, Leaded, Slag, Stained Glass Shade, Arts Crafts, Handel Lamp” is in sale since Monday, October 29, 2018. Duffner & Kimberly Arts & Crafts Leaded Slag Stained Glass Lamp Tiffany Era
Please take a look, ask questions, and let me know if you need any additional pictures. This is an absolutely stunning example of Duffner & Kimberly’s work. They call this shade the “shell” and it should be readily apparent why. What’s amazing about this particular example is the number of different kinds of brown glass they used and how much they vary in color. In addition, the medallions at the top have a striking glow when lit up. This lamp is 100% original and has not been messed with in any way (except for the rewiring). The glass is all original. The base is all original. It is truly an excellent all around original lamp. As for size, the shade measures 19″ in diameter and the lamp stands 23″ tall. I will let my pictures do the talking here, but if you have any questions about this lamp please feel free to ask. Condition is as close to excellent as you can get with maybe a coupdl of small cracks here and there. I would not replace this piece as you would never find the same glass and it really does not detract from the appearance at all. The base retains all of its original hardware including matching Bryant pull chains with their original interiors and ball ended pull chains, original heart cutout cap, and finial. It has been wired with period style cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. Folks, these shell lamps do not come up all that often and I can honestly say that you won’t find one in as nice or in as original condition as this one. If you have ever wanted a great example of a true Duffener & Kimberly original lamp, this may be the one for you. Thanks, and please see my other listings for other great lamps from this period. It has just become too difficult and costly to do so effectively. It is actually much better for both of us this way as they will fully guarantee it to get there without damage and if something happens they will 100% stand behind it without any claims hassle. I have worked with this UPS Store over many years and they do a great job with things like this. You are also more than welcome to come and get it yourself, or if we are close I can meet you somewhere with it.
