The shade is done in an upside down basket style, and the peony floral pattern is reproduced twice on the shade. I have seen this style shade with hollyhock flowers, but this is the first example of a peony one that I have come across. The shade is 18″ in diameter and the lamp stands 24″ tall. The simple colonial style base has its original finish and sockets and has been wired with period style cloth braided cord. I say later since the design of the cluster and cap were modified. Please see my last picture of the cluster setup as it is identified in Paul Crist’s Book, Mosaic Shades II. And the base was made simpler as the company faced. Still, these later lamps were made with the quality one would expect from Duffner, even in the face of the company’s impending demise. This particular one features a. Style shade with oblong jewels in the boarder. The jewels to me look like amber with streaks of white in them….. Just beautiful to look at. They protrude out from the shade as one of my images shows. This is a full sized table lamp with an 18″ diameter shade that stands 22″ tall. I see two or three small cracks in the dark brown apron pieces, but none in the triangular top sections or jewels. The base has a wonderful multi colored patina. It has its original cap, finial, and sockets which are dated June 13,’99. It has been wired with cloth braided cord and a nice old plug and comes ready to use and enjoy. In addition, the medallions at the top have a striking glow when lit up. This lamp is 100% original and has not been messed with in any way (except for the rewiring). The glass is all original. The base is all original. It is truly an excellent all around original lamp. As for size, the shade measures 19″ in diameter and the lamp stands 23″ tall. Condition is as close to excellent as you can get with maybe a coupdl of small cracks here and there.
