For sale is a wonderful circa 1920 American slag glass table lamp in working condition. Directly from a private estate near Woodstock, New York in untouched condition. The lamp body featuring a fluted square column body with an ornate floral four footed base. The lamp having its original metal beaded pull. The slag glass shade having four triangle shaped slag glass panels with gorgeous caramel swirl colorations throughout. One panel with hints of violet swirls as well. The lamp having a very rare metal decoration of Islamic or Ottoman Empire style architecture with the crescent moon atop the dome of a building flanked by palm trees. The crescent moon being a very important symbol in Islamic architectural as well as Ottoman architecture. In 1922 interest in all things Middle Eastern increased with the discovery of King Tut’s burial chamber. This lamp may precede that date… Or it may be shortly thereafter. We believe it is in the 1915 to 1920s date range. We have seen many slag glass lamps during our careers, but we have never come across an American slag glass lamp with Islamic/Ottoman style architectural designs. Quite rare we’d’ think. Condition: All four glass panels in good condition with no cracks. The intricate nooks and crannies having old dust and grime and can use a proper cleaning. The original bronze color painted metal surface in overall good condition with only age appropriate wear/losses. THE ORIGINAL OLD ELECTRICAL CORD SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH MODERN CODE COMPLIANT WIRING. Width of Shade – 12 (per side).
