Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique Working Signed “Bigelow & Kennard” Slag Glass Art Nouveau Electric Table Lamp, made in the USA, during the early 1920′s by the Bigelow & Kennard Company Boston Mass USA. The Base is a Fancy Ornate Gold Gilded Cast Iron Base, with a Nice Patina and 3 1/2 Shade Fitter Diameter. It is Signed Underneath “BK”, as pictured, for Bigelow & Kennard. The Domed Gold Gilded Cast Metal Mushroom Style Slag Glass Shade has Eight Caramel Slag Glass Curved Panels, with Fancy Decorative Victorian Overlay at The Top and in the Corners. The Lamp Measures approx. 22 1/4 Tall to the Top Of The Finial. The Shade has a 19 1/4 Base Diameter, with a Height of approx. The Shade is in Great Condition with the Original Finish, and is the Correct Original Shade for the Lamp. There are Two Sockets with Pull Chain Switches, Which are Working Correctly. The Glass is in Excellent Condition with No Cracks or Damage, Looks Great!!! The Lamp and Shade Retain Most Of The Original Paint! Vintage 23H cast metal, ornate 8 panel carmel slag glass single socket lamp
1920-30′s cast metal with ornate filagree, single socket w pull chain, 23 H. With 19 D shade, 8 carmel slag glass panels. The lamp is in excellent condition with no obvious damage to the slag glass panels or the intricate metal lattice work. The lamp is in working condition. The lamp base was repainted On the inside bottom of the cast metal frame where each section is welded together, additional welding material was added to reinforce the joints, Even so there is some minor gaps between some of the seams. 1920s ART NOUVEAU PIANO LAMP With SLAG GLASS SHADE
This 1920s Art Nouveau desk lamp is made of very heavy cast metal (lamp base & shade frame) with a brass’corduroy’ tubular arm and cast brass adjusting knuckles at each end of the arm. The two slag glass panels for the shade are white with pale honey streaks. The slag glass is new and in excellent condition. The lamp has been restored in bronze & natural brass. Brass was cleaned, hand polished & lightly sprayed with a brass protector. As shown, the lamp stands 14 1/2 tall, 9 at the widest and extends 12.. The oval base is 8 by 5 1/2. Original pull chain socket is rewired with a new repro wall plug and gold cloth covered cord. It weighs 7 1/8 lbs. Light bulb not included. Antique Lamb Bros Leaded Slag Glass Lamp Brass Base Caramel Green Leaf C. 1915
The lamp stands about 19 to the top of the finial. The shade is 6″ tall and about 14.5″ in diameter. The brass base is 7. I have showed 2 hairline cracks in the shade in the last photos. The shade is solid and has good color, caramel with green leave and ruby panels. The lamp base is brass. It has lost most of it’s lacquer finish but still displays nicely. Strip off the the remaining and have it re-laquered if you choose, and it will be a stunning base. There is 1 tiny ding to the base. The Bakelite protector over the hole for the cord has chipped threading and does not screw in tightly. Electrically it works fine, good cord, wall socket and pull chain.
